The Final Showdown of 2016: TORNADOES VS TIGERS

November 14, 2016
David Rodgers

Hello Tornado Nation and Tornado Fans, Well I write this post with mixed emotions as the Tornadoes Great Season came to an end Last Friday Night at David Hurse Stadium in beautiful Starke Florida with a 48 to 21 loss to the Dunellon Tigers in the First Round of the State Playoffs. The score did not indicate how close this game was especially in the first half when the Tornadoes took the ball on the Opening Kickoff and drove it down the throat of the Tigers and took a 7 to 0 lead and in the following series that score must have woken the Tigers up and they drove it down the field to bring the Tigers to within one point 7 to 6 in the first quarter and then the teams traded scores in the first half and with a Tornado fumble deep in there own territory right before halftime the Tigers took over and 2 plays later the Tigers were up 26 to 21 and they never trailed after that as the momentum shifted to the Tigers and they were able to keep the Tornadoes in check and out of the end zone for the rest of the game and the Tigers went to score 3 more Touchdowns and two 2 point conversions in the second half to put the game away. The Tigers will now advance to take on South Sumter in South Sumter to try and avenge their only loss of the season in the Second Round of the State Playoffs. The Tornadoes Season is now over and what a season it was. They had a 7-2 overall record 4-0 in District play that culminated with a District Championship and a hosting of a State Playoff Game. This is something that can never be taken away. That was earned by a team that Big Kevin and I saw each and every week get better and better and playing there best football here toward the end of the season. This 2016 Football Team played each and every game with moxie and heart. They always had each other's back when things were going good or not going so well. That is attributed to Head Coach Corey Green and Asst Head Coach Bobby Johns who is also our Athletic Director at Bradford and Asst Coaches Adrian Mosley, Chaz Johns, Danny Green,Justin Sirmon and Kenny Mudge. Kudos to You Gentlemen for a Job Well Done! Team Manager Roger The Tornado Crews also did a great job keeping the team focused and helping with what ever had and needed to be done. I also want to acknowledge some very fine you men in there efforts this year our Seniors Xavien JenkinsJaylon Hankerson, Jamarian McNeal, Austin Wilburn, Alvin James, Aaron Henderson, Jorge Villafuerte Jr.And Andrew Sadler. You men played with heart and showed leadership all year long. I want to Thank You from Tornado Nation and you will be missed but always a folklore in Tornado History. Also Thanks to The Band and Cheerleaders for keeping our fans fired up and ready to go each and every game. I also want to Thank all our Radio Sponsors that help bring you the games live each and every week with a special Thanks to Community State Bank for Sponsoring the Bobby Johns Show on Monday Mornings at 740, Community State Bank for Sponsoring the Tornado Game Day Report on Friday Mornings at 740 and Dale Murray and the Murray Automotive Group for Sponsoring Our Halftime Show. I also want to thank our Former Radio Guys Terry Vaughan and Rick Cragg for all there service on calling Tornado Football for 31 and 20 years respectively and for putting my name out there to be the next Voice of the Bradford Tornadoes. Also a Special Thanks to 3 wonderful people and great friends that make all this happen from the radio side of things our boss Mr Chuck Kramer, Mary Kramer, and Lyn Veliz, the best Producing Team in the State. It takes a lot of work to make this go and to make us look good and they are the best at it. We Love You Guys! I also want to give Kudos to my Great Friend and My Color Commentator Big Kevin Howe for accepting this job when I told him that I needed a Color Commentator and he said yes. It was a marriage made in Heaven and he has done a great job in just one season of this with virtually no experience in this business but he was the backbone of our team and kept me focused and straight and to me one of the best color guys around. So Tornado Nation this season may now be over but now we look ahead and start preparations for the 2017 Football Season as we have a great nucleus of players coming back on next year's squad and should be a great football campaign again not just for next year but for years to come. Thank You listening audience for tuning in each and every week to listen to Tornado Football and we look forward to bringing you the games all season long next year. Keep listening to WEAG 106.3 and Chuck Kramer and Lyn Veliz for more updates not just on Football but all the other Tornado Sports. Also stay tune on my FB Page and Big Kevin Howe's FB Page for sport updates through out the year. In closing We Are Tornadoes, Bradford United, The Big Red Nation and Once a Tornado Always A Tornado! God Bless You All and I Love Each and Every One Of You.
