CLOSING OUT THE REGULAR SEASON: ON THE ROAD TO THE PLAYOFFS

November 6, 2016
David Rodgers

Hello Tornado Fans and Big Red Nation! This is David Rodgers Voice of the Bradford Tornadoes and what a way to finish off the regular season with a thumping of the Crescent City Raiders on the road with a final score of 44 to 3 and wrap up a 7-1 overall campaign and a perfect 4-0 district record. The season went by so fast and it is hard to believe it is playoff time and the Tornadoes will be hosting a state playoff game at home in the confines of David Hurse Stadium next Friday Night. The last time Bradford hosted a playoff game was back in 2004, 12 long years ago when we hosted the Madison County Cowboys. Now it is a new season, playoff season win or go home. And the road for the Tornadoes will not get any easier as we will host the Dunellon Tigers the Class 4 A District 4 Runner Ups. The Tigers will bring a very good football team to Starke with alot of skill players and a big offensive and defensive line. The Tornadoes will need to play their very best game of the year to pull out a victory. Bradford will be looking to atone a defeat at the hands of the Tigers last year at Dunellon, 35 to 6. The score did not indicate how close the game really was. On the first play from scrimmage Aundre Carter took the ball around right end and looked to what appeared to be a 60 yard TD run but it got called back due to a chop block penalty as we would have had momentum right at the start of the game. That nulled TD run was the first score that the Tigers had given up all year long in the first quarter and was only 14 to 0 at half the fewest points they scored all season in the first half. In the second half we got pinned back deep in our half of the field and had 2 critical turnovers that lead to easy scores and by then the game had got out of hand for the Tornadoes. For a bright spot Zion Barber threw a 50 yard TD on the last play of the game to get their lone score. That was the 2015 Season and now it is the 2016 Season and 27 players return from that squad and have vastly improved as whole from last season. The offense and defense is clicking on all cylinders right now and are on a great momentum roll. They are playing with alot of passion and heart and they have each other's back, no matter what happens during the course of a game. Believe you me the Tornadoes will be ready to play. Coach Green and Coach Johns and the rest of the staff will have them ready to go. On tonight's broadcast Big Kevin Howe and I called out Bradford County as a whole and we want there to be standing room only and for everyone coming to cheer on the Tornadoes to wear a red shirt, let us make this a Red Out Event and show the Dunellon Tigers why they cannot come to our house and just get an easy victory. If you cannot make it out to the stadium you can catch all the live play by play and color commentary with Chuck Kramer and Lyn Veliz producers back at the station and David Rodgers and Big Kevin Howe with the Pregame Show @715 and Kickoff @ 730 on Eagle Country 106.3. I also urge you to please share this message with all your friends as we need to get the word out and keep it going for the rest of this week for sure.
