A Successful Showdown!

January 27, 2014

Saturday night.

5:59.

We are waiting behind the curtain with 15 talented acts, ready to perform.

The spotlight sneaks upon the stage.

It's 6 o'clock.

Time to get this showdown on the road!

Miss Mary and I have never emceed an event before the Santa Fe College Bradford Fest Talent Showdown. After saying no, on my part, and then saying yes, on hers, we both found ourselves embracing a brand new experience. We spent plenty of time prepping, learning about each contestant we would soon introduce and interview. We created lists, jotted notes and composed questions. The nerves never came. We were ready. With only a few bumps in the road, we did well; as did each act. The talent this year was tremendous between the singing, the songwriting and the overall performance. Eleanor Roosevelt said countless quotes that have a way of touching right on point. Her words, "You must do the thing you think you cannot do," not only applied to Miss Mary and me, but also to each contestant who performed. The 3rd Annual Bradford Fest Talent Showdown, a success!
