GAME 2 RIVALRY GAME

September 5, 2016
David A. Rodgers

Hey Tornado Fans, This is David Rodgers, The Voice of the Bradford Tornadoes, with another blog in the 2016 Tornado Football Season. Game 2 of this season should have been a great game between the Bradford Tornadoes and the Baker Coutny Wildcats at David Hurse Stadium in Starke but Mother Nature as in Hurricane Hermine had something to say about that as it left its aftermath of rains, winds, and in some cases minor damage throught out the State causing alot of the high school football games in the Northeast area of Florida to be cancelled and or postponed. As this hurricane made its way thru Northeast Florida and was out of the area by noon on Friday the Coaches and Adminstrations of both schools had to make some hard decisions on playing this game and if they wanted to rescedule this game to a later date. After serious deliberations in regards to the conditions of our football field and the safety of players on both squads, it was determined to cancel this game. As stated before this would have been a great game with both teams coming in at 1-0 with Bradford coming off a big win over Cedar Creek Christian 49-0 and Baker County coming off a major upset of the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets 23-21. It is unfortunate that this game could not be played; one of the biggest rivalries in this area for sure and one of the biggest in the state. But both teams have to move on with their seasons since this was not a district game for either squad and both teams have a great chance to win their district and make it to the state playoffs which is the bigger picture. The Tornadoes will be back in action next week as they have their first road contest of the season as they travel to Perry to take on the 1-0 Taylor County Bulldogs in a big non-district contest. The Tornadoes since not having a game this week will have a chance to heal up some players with minor injuries and also the offense and the defense should get back two of their players that anchor both sides of the football. As stated on offense we will get back OL Big Andrew Sadler that had a minor leg injury and on defense the Captain and the guys that makes this unit go in, SR LB Jamarian McNeal with a hand injury. The Tornadoes will be looking to carrying the momentum from the last 2 games into this contest and go 2-0 on the this young season with big key district matchups still looming on the schedule. Baker County has a bye-week and will be looking to heal up players with minor injuries and perfecting all aspects of their game to make a run through the rest of their season. We encourage all the Tornado Fans that can travel to Perry to go out and support our team but if you cannot make it you can tune in with all the live play by play action and color commentary with myself, Mr. Friday Nite and Big Kevin Howe. Of course these broadcasts cannot be possible without  the best Program Producers around the state of Florida,  Mr.Chuck Kramer and his lovely daughter, coming back off maternity leave, Mrs. Lyn Veliz with the Pre Game Show @7:15 and Kickoff @7:30 and you can hear it all right here on the Eagle Country 106.3!
